Artistic round tables and readings are offered throughout the year at venues in the Philadelphia region as part of our live event series. Stay tuned for upcoming events.

Past events have included the round table “Collectives, Collaborations, and Community Building” with poet Yolanda Wisher, filmmaker and festival organizer Maori Holmes, dancer and choreographer Lela Aisha Jones, and grassroots organizer Rasheedah Phillips at the Church of the Advocate in North Philadelphia and a poetry reading by Yolanda Wisher at Lincoln University.


CBC’s workshop series presents well-structured training and educational events to empower local Black artists and activists. These workshops focus on skill-building, networking, and idea exchange. All workshops are purposefully grounded within a Black intellectual framework.

Power To the People: A Podcast Training Workshop

Have a great idea for podcast but are unsure of where to start? This weekend intensive workshop is designed for Black artists and activists who are ready to get serious about their podcast. This workshop includes how to conceptualize one’s podcast, teaches the nuts of bolts of the technical aspects of podcasting, and includes the opportunity to create a “mini” sample podcast for critique and feedback.

Black Artists Dream: Set Your Artistic Course For the New Year

Want to start your new year with a clear artistic vision of how to take your career next level? Want to set your upcoming goals for the next twelve months, make a clear plan, and troubleshoot obstacles? Join an interdisciplinary, small group of artists for the free weekend workshop that includes writing, reflection, planning, and discussion. This workshop is designed specifically for mid career artists–artists who have been firmly established in their craft for at least five years. This year’s workshop will be January 20th (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.) and 21st (10 a.m. – 2 p.m.). To apply, click here.
